| Flat panels can pose challenges for installers in small areas where cabling is tight and at right angles between the panel and the wall. Few cable designs offer any relief from this issue and can create stress on both the cable as well as the board mounted HDMI connector on the display. Accell's new ProUltra® Supreme High Speed HDMI® Swivel Cable with Ethernet addresses this problem by providing connectors with a patented swivel design that rotates both 180º vertically and horizontally. This design allows the cable to be installed in hard-to-reach areas behind the panel even at right angles. With customers asking for thinner displays attached close to the wall there comes a need to accommodate difficult cabling requirements, especially with the new thinner edge-lit LED flat panels. In addition, if 3D is on your radar screen, then there is good reason to get excited about this new cable.
Design
Accell's ProUltra® Supreme High Speed HDMI® Swivel Cable with Ethernet is compatible with all HDMI components and supports all resolutions and video formats including HD 1080p, 4K and 3D with data transfer rates of up to 10.2 Gbps (340MHz). The design is fully compliant with the High Speed HDMI specification. The integrated Ethernet Channel and an Audio Return Channel (HEAC) ensure complete support of the latest audio and video technologies. The cable supports Deep Color™ or x.v.Color™ as well as DTS-HD® or Dolby® True-HD high-definition digital audio formats.
Like other HDMI cables we have reviewed from Accell Corporation, the ProUltra® Supreme High Speed HDMI® Swivel Cable with Ethernet cable is designed to maximize audio and video performance. The 100% foil shields and high-density metal braid rejects electromagnetic (EM) and radio frequency (RF) interference. The UltraFlex® jacket with its woven mesh sleeve bends and routes easily and protects the cable from deformation. The HDMI™ connectors and contacts feature extra-thick 24K gold-plating for a solid, corrosion resistant connection providing maximum audio and video transfer.
Performance
Our review sample was 3-meters in length, so it had no problem fitting between our OPPO BDP-83SE blu-ray player and Denon AVR-5308CI receiver. Video performance was excellent with no issues encountered during our testing. We didn't have the ability to test the 3D capability or the HDMI Ethernet and Audio Return Channel (HEAC).
Conclusion
The Accell ProUltra Supreme HDMI Swivel Cable With Ethernet is available in 1m, 2m, and 3m lengths with a street price of less that $30 for the 3-meter version. Accell has solved a difficult problem with an excellent performing product priced to fit anyone's budget. Even if your current installation does not require adjustable HDMI connectors, this cable will provide the capability in the future without any performance impacts. We are keeping our cable installed on the OPPO BDP-83SE, which sits close to the back cabinet panel. I have seen no other cable to date that offers these features. -
