The Sony PlayStation3 (PS3) is one of the most exciting components in our A/V system. It's a game console, Blu-ray player, and media center with full access to the internet. Controlling the Graphical User Interface (GUI) with the game controller is not always easy, nor is it very user friendly when entering information such as web addresses or text messages. Luckily, Sony was forward thinking when developing the PS3 and included the ability to use Bluetooth devices for controlling the Blu-ray player, Headset, Keyboard and Mouse. We have already benefited from this capability using our dedicated Bluetooth remote control for the PS3 Blu-ray player. Logitech® has introduced the Cordless MediaBoard Pro, a Bluetooth® cordless keyboard with an integrated mouse pad that is designed to work with the PS3. The full-size keyboard feels great and the inclusion of the mouse with scrolling makes it easy to use and manage.

Our system projected a full 1080p (1920x1080) resolution on a 100" screen, thanks to our Mitsubishi HC5000 projector and Stewart FireHawk filmscreen. This single input device allows us to place the keyboard on our lap and gave us full control of the GUI.

Setup and Installation
The installation of the keyboard is very easy thanks to the smooth GUI (Graphical User Interface) on the PS3. Simply go the Settings->Accessory Settings->Register Bluetooth Device. The screen to the left appears and the user must select Register Keyboard/Mouse. Once selected, the PS3 will prompt the user to start scanning for the Logitech MediaBoard Pro. The PS3 will detect the keyboard and ask the user to confirm the device on the screen. The user will then be asked to type in a six digit code to confirm the correct device is being connected to the PS3. This will complete the installation process.

The MediaBoard Pro™ uses cordless Bluetooth® technology designed to operate from up to 30 feet (10 meters) away from the PS3. The keyboard includes an Integrated touch pad which eliminates the need for a separate mouse. This stylish keyboard is thin and lightweight, making it perfect for living room use where space is limited. The MediaBoard Pro includes all of the standard keys found on a computer keyboard. The special keys for the PS3 have been defined on Enter (X), ESC (O), F1 (Triangle), and F2 (Square). The top left of the keyboard has buttons for Menu, Scan Left, Play/Pause, Scan Right, and BD-DVD Menu. The right side of the keyboard has a dedicated mouse pad with scrolling and a pair of mouse buttons. A pair of AA alkaline batteries are included to power the keyboard and last up to 200 hours. The top right side has a slider switch for power and an indicator for the battery. While it is not completely obvious, the user needs to slide the switch to the right to turn on the keyboard. A Reset button located on the back can be used during the registration process to place the keyboard in a reset state.
