MAX® LIGHT 4200
Panamax has been serving the needs of consumers
for over two decades with their power conditioning units. Their MAX®
product line has traditionally offered reasonably priced products geared
for A/V enthusiasts. We've covered several of their MAX® line conditioners
in the past and have always felt they offered great performance for the
dollar. Recently, they've introduced the new MAX® 4200 Light that
not only provides 9 switched and protected outlets, but also includes
a light bar on the front panel to illuminate equipment mounted inside
of a 19" rack system. The acrylic light-rod is located in the middle
of front panel and turns, allowing the user to direct light as much as
3 feet up or down. Even the color of the light can be changed (White,
Blue, Green or Aqua Color Light) by simply pressing the color button.
We found the white light to provide the best illumination. An on/off/dimmer
switch is provided to control the light output. The MAX® 4200 Light
is built in a sturdy housing that can be easily rack mounted using Panamax's
rack mount ears.
The
MAX® 4200 Light provides eight outlets on the rear of the unit and
one on the front. The outlets are all controlled by a single on/off switch
on the front panel. There's also a 15-amp resetable circuit breaker located
on the rear of the unit. The 9-foot power cord provides adequate length
for long power runs. Full EMI/RFI noise filtration and the Protect
or Disconnect Circuitry is an integral part of this product
providing noise and surge protection. Panamax offers their $5,000,000

Policy (see their documentation) for products meeting their
connection requirements. In addition, the unit comes with a 3 year product
warranty that protects again manufacturer design, material, or workmanship
defects.
Conclusion
The Panamax MAX® 4200 is a nice addition to a crowded rack that may need
a light source. The eight additional outlets on the rear of the unit as
well as the one on the front panel makes the product very functional.
