The sturdy case protects from bumps, scratches and even moderate drops. The best part is all of the functions remain fully usable through the case. The large open area for the keyboard allows the user to type without being overly restricted. The lower portion of the keyboard is the toughest to use with the raised lip on the bottom of the case. This case also includes a holster style belt clip for carrying convenience. In addition, OtterBox™ has made it very easy to install and remove the device as needed.

Quick Assembly
A thermal-formed clear membrane protects the screen from common scratches while the hi-impact two-piece shell encases the device. Finally, a flexible silicone skin installs around the shell to provide moderate shock absorption. The cover also helps keep the unit from slipping out of your hand. However, there have been those instances where my 8830 has been dropped and each time the unit has been protected from damage. As a result, my 8830 still looks new even though it shouldn't based on the way it has been used.

Port Access
Third party accessories usually have some issues with access to the ports of devices they hold. Fortunately, the BlackBerry® 8800 Defender Series™ has all ports accessible through a convenient Silicone plug that snaps into place. We charge our BlackBerry® 8830 daily and have done so for months now. The case has stood the test of time and still works as well as it did when we first received the unit The case has raised bumps where buttons exist, making it easy for the user to press.

Conclusion
The OtterBox™ for BlackBerry® 8800, 8820 and 8830 (World Edition) Defender™ Series is a great product that comes highly recommended for those who really use their PDA/Phone. The benefits are obvious and users will be happy to have their expensive BlackBerry® protected from daily use. The larger size of the protected device will be objectionable to some who like to slide the smooth device into their pocket. We found it easy for our shirt pocket, but not so simple for pockets on our pants. This should be a consideration depending on how users plan to use it. The great news is OtterBox™ stands behind their products and offer a lifetime warranty against defects.
