High performance Digital SLR cameras such as our Canon 40D require extremely fast read and write speeds especially when the camera is set for rapid fire (6.5 frames per second) mode. The thumb wheel on the Canon 40D allows us to index through many photos in a second putting a strain on any memory's ability to read the data off the card fast enough. Conclusion
The SanDisk Extreme® IV CompactFlash® card is the reference media card for high-end photography. The high speed performance coupled with the high durability give this memory card an edge over many others. When it comes to saving your valuable photos, it doesn't pay to have a cheap memory cards installed in your camera. Doing so may risk you losing once in a lifetime photos that you will regret forever. Not too long ago a friend of mine took an overseas trip and lost all of her photos due to a cheap memory card. She ended up spending over $100 to recover only a fraction of her original photos. If she had bought a quality memory card this could have likely been avoided.
