| SanDisk
has recently introduced the Extreme® IV CompactFlash® memory for high-end
professional photographers who require the best possible performance and the largest
capacity for their high-performance digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras.
The Extreme® IV CompactFlash® has extremely fast read/write speeds (Up
to 40MB/sec*) and provides the highest durability for serious photographers. The
technology behind the extremely fast read/write speeds found in the Extreme IV
memory cards is an innovative ESP (Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing)
technology for the fastest speeds and highest performance. In addition, SanDisk
has built the new memories to perform in the most extreme environmental conditions
allowing these new breed of compact flash cards to work at temperatures from -13º
F to 185º F (-25º C to 85º C) in demanding locations where severe
weather conditions exist (heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow). SanDisk also tests
these cards for shock and vibration for the ultimate in reliability.
High
performance Digital SLR cameras such as our Canon 40D require extremely fast read
and write speeds especially when the camera is set for rapid fire (6.5 frames
per second) mode. This can be particularly challenging for memories not capable
of handling high data rates. We also appreciate the fast read speed when we use
the camera to browse through the high resolution images. The thumb wheel on the
Canon 40D allows us to index through many photos in a second putting a strain
on any memory's ability to read the data off the card fast enough. The SanDisk
Extreme® IV did exceptionally well in the category. RescuePRO®
Deluxe The SanDisk Extreme® IV CompactFlash® card comes bundled
with RescuePRO® Deluxe, a powerful recovery tool with leading-edge
media recovery algorithms. Just about any digital file (images, documents, mail,
video, or music) can be recovered with ease as long as too much data is not lost.
RescuePRO also includes a unique recovery algorithm for MPEG audio and
MPEG video recovery (MPEG-1/2/3). Many of those who have lost data on their memory
cards end up spending a lot of money on the recovery process. Thankfully, SanDisk
provides this for free with their Extreme® IV CompactFlash® card. Conclusion
The SanDisk Extreme® IV CompactFlash® card is the reference media card
for high-end photography. The high speed performance coupled with the high durability
give this memory card an edge over many others. When it comes to saving your valuable
photos, it doesn't pay to have a cheap memory cards installed in your camera.
Doing so may risk you losing once in a lifetime photos that you will regret forever.
Not too long ago a friend of mine took an overseas trip and lost all of her photos
due to a cheap memory card. She ended up spending over $100 to recover only a
fraction of her original photos. If she had bought a quality memory card this
could have likely been avoided. The
SanDisk Extreme® IV CompactFlash® card includes a travel case and is backed
with a Lifetime limited warranty. In addition, SanDisk has a dedicated, priority
technical support hotline for direct customers of SanDisk Extreme products. For
us, this is the only memory we use in our digital SLR. -
